DSAGSL ~ MINI CONFERENCE MARCH 25 & 26!



The mission of the DSAGSL is to benefit the lives of people with Down syndrome and their families through individual and family support, education, public awareness and advocacy.
  
You may have received the first "What's UP at the DSAGSL" at your home.  We are very excited about our upcoming Mini Conference Series, but some updates have been made to the registration form.  The updated form is located below.

Who Should Attend? 
These workshops are appropriate for ALL parents, educators, family members, paraprofessionals, medical professionals and therapists who interact with students who have Down syndrome.
Practical Solutions for Potty Training & Elopement in Children with Down Syndrome

Children/Students with Down syndrome can be potty trained in just four short days if you utilize the tips and techniques shared in this session. Likewise, you can also learn effective strategies for stopping a child from running and creating an emergency response plan that works in case the unthinkable happens. This session will cover various scenarios where elopement can be high risk and what you can do to teach the core behavior of staying near an adult at all times.

Over 5,000 parents and educators across the country have attended this workshop and rated it highly. Designed to help you understand how to successfully engage, instruct and enjoy your student with Down syndrome, this workshop will provide an overview of the specific learning needs characteristic of students with Down syndrome. Tips, strategies and solutions relevant to preschool through high school will be covered.
 Topics include:
 How to improve student/child communication
How to motivate your student/child towards independence
The right placement with the right schedule
How to change behavior
Simple approaches to adapting curriculum
How to build a productive parent/school partnership 
.5 Continuing Education Units are available for this session through the University of Missouri - St. Louis.  CEU forms will be handed out at the conference and collected at the end of the session with your $15 fee.
